The Marina del Rey WaterBus is Back: Enjoy Scenic, Affordable Rides All Summer Long

Summer is just around the corner—and there’s no better way to celebrate the season in Marina del Rey than with a ride on the beloved WaterBus. This scenic and affordable water taxi service is back for the 2025 season, and we’re thrilled to announce a special early kickoff to get things started.

Mark your calendar: Hornblower will operate a special WaterBus service on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., in honor of Marina del Rey’s 60th anniversary. This one-day event offers the perfect opportunity to enjoy the harbor, hop between popular destinations, and take in the sights—all by water.

Following this celebration, the full WaterBus season launches on June 20 and runs through October 26, 2025.

Whether you’re a longtime local or a first-time visitor, the Marina del Rey WaterBus offers a fun, breezy, and low-cost way to explore everything our coastal community has to offer.

May 31, 2025: Special Kick-Off Service

The May 31st WaterBus preview is your chance to experience the Marina from a fresh perspective—before the summer crowds arrive. From 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the WaterBus will provide continuous service across eight scenic stops around the Marina. 

Whether you’re heading out to brunch, meeting friends at Burton Chace Park, or planning a day at the beach, this festive day of water travel is one you won’t want to miss.

This event is part of Marina del Rey’s year-long 60th anniversary celebration. We encourage residents, local businesses, and visitors to come out and enjoy the ride—no reservations needed, just $1 per trip.

Regular Season Schedule: June 20 – October 26, 2025

After the May preview, the WaterBus officially launches its regular 2025 summer season starting Friday, June 20. 

Operating weekends and select special event days through Sunday, October 26, the WaterBus gives passengers a fun and easy way to navigate the Marina without a car.

General Summer Schedule (June 20 – September 1)

  • Fridays & Saturdays: 11:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.
  • Sundays & Labor Day: 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 4 (Independence Day): 11:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Dance MDR Fridays (September 5 – September 26)

  • Fridays only: 5:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Marina Spooktacular Weekend (October 25–26)

  • Saturday & Sunday: 2:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

This extended schedule makes it easy to incorporate the WaterBus into your plans—whether you’re enjoying a weekend getaway, planning a night out, or attending one of the Marina’s many public events.

Where to Board: 8 Scenic Stops

The WaterBus connects you to the Marina’s top destinations with eight convenient boarding locations:

  • Fisherman’s Village (P56) – Shops, dining, and weekend entertainment
  • Burton Chace Park – Ideal for picnics, concerts, and waterfront views
  • Waterfront Walk (near Ritz-Carlton) (P125H) – Access to upscale hotels and dining
  • Marina “Mother’s” Beach – A family-friendly swimming and paddling spot
  • Dolphin Marina (P18) – Near waterfront residences and eateries
  • Esprit (P12) – Great for walking trails and scenic outlooks
  • Wetland Park – Peaceful nature space and learning opportunities
  • Del Rey Landing (P1) – Fuel dock, general store, and harbor access

Each stop provides an easy connection to Marina del Rey’s diverse experiences—from quiet parks to bustling restaurants and boutique shopping.
